If you work in downtown Jozi and are on the lookout for a local after work watering hole where you can go to unwind then look no further than Bellissimo Pizzeria. When you step in to the cosy spot you get the feeling that it's the sort of place where everybody knows your name – or at least they make you feel like they do. Cheers references aside the eatery is a great place to grab a bite to eat and a pint to drink before heading home after work.
The restaurant is a welcome change to the bog-standard fast food outlets that inundate downtown Jozi. On the menu you'll find authentic Italian cuisine that is sure to hit the right spot after work or before a night out on the town. Their pizzas are their real speciality though so make sure you dig in to one of those if you go. With almost 20 toppings to choose from you're bound to find something you like. I tried their signature pizza, the Power Pizza (R69 for a large) and loved it! The thin crust pizza is smothered in mozzarella, steak, peppadews, feta, garlic, and jalapenos and is definitely a must-try. Their pizzas range from R30 for a margarita to R69 for more topping heavy offerings.
If you're not keen on a pizza try one of the many other dishes on the menu. They offer a selection of tasty pastas (including baked pasta dishes and gnocchis) calzones, and tramezzinis. If you're not jonesing for pizza or pasta and your friends are, Bellissimos is the perfect place to please everyone - they aim to offer something on the menu to suit every taste. You'll also find meat, poultry, and fish dishes on the menu – all with an Italian twist. You'll pay an average of R59 for a meal.
The pizzeria is located next to the landmark Orion Devonshire Hotel on the Braamfontein Ridge and has secure underground parking so there's no need to worry if you stick around after dark.
